The Presidency, Economy and Business Minister, Jordi Gallardo, presented to the country’s main economic agents the first results of the agreement between the Government and Visa. The Secretary of State for Economic Diversification and Innovation, Marc Galabert, also attended the presentation. This collaboration agreement was signed last May, as Gallardo recalled, and aims to analyse consumer trends and the interests of tourists who visit Andorra and make their purchases with a Visa card.

The minister emphasized it is possible to obtain segmented information by country of origin, by parishes and by sectors of activity. Therefore, the data facilitates the designing of specific strategies aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of the country’s companies, taking into account the spending patterns of visitors, according to their profile and nationality.

“We will facilitate indicators to the public and private sector to help them in the decision-making process. The data provides information in strategic sectors of our economy such as tourism and trade,” said Jordi Gallardo. In this sense, Marc Galabert stressed that the initial report has alaysed the time period between May 2018 and April 2019.

The Secretary of State for Economic Diversification and Innovation pointed out some conclusions from these first results. He said Spanish and French visitors are the two national groups that weigh the most in total expenditures with a Visa card. The importance of the fashion and food sector in tourist purchases can also be observed.

Minister Gallardo recalled that Actua is coordinating the work to develop a national database, with the collaboration of actors such as Andorra Telecom and the latter with Visa. He said analysing different Andorran economic indicators will make easier to draw specific and more effective policies.
