Thirty people attended the session about the indoor environmental quality, organized by the Actua initiative.

In this 15th health and wellness cluster edition, attendees were able to discuss about the importance of the air we breathe in our jobs.

Dr. Gloria Cruceta, Director of Segla Qualitat SL, presented the “Associació Andorrana per a la Qualitat Ambiental en Interiors” (AAQAI).

This association was created in 2008 with the aim of spreading the importance of taking care of the environmental quality of air inside buildings and to promote research, development and innovation to improve control.

The doctor stressed the importance of maintaining a good environmental quality inside buildings and talked about the sick buildings syndrome, being those where a poor environmental quality may cause many diseases.

During her speech, she defined sustainable buildings as those who take into account the environment and are built according to the current regulations and the use of traditional architecture, for example.

Xavier Tomás, auditor consultant at Principat Qualiprevent, talked about the origin of quality certification and management in his company. They work on the air quality management system’s design and implementation.

Josep Sobrevias, manager at Decomant SL said we should take care of air conditioning systems and ventilation of indoor environments, especially in dark areas, where most biological contaminants are accumulated.

Finally, Dr. Meritxell Vinyes, Technical Manager at Europrincipat SL detailed the straight relationship between indoor environmental quality and job diseases. She emphasizes that early detection of sick building problems can avoid further consequences.

In conclusion, from the Actua initiative we’d like to mention that a high quality work environment contributes to improve the workers performances.
