The Council of Ministers approved this Wednesday, 29th -08-, the draft Law amending the Administration Code. The Government’s Secretary General, Jordi Casadevall, stated the aim of this legislative reform is to regulate and encourage the use of new technologies between the different administrations and citizens and therefore, facilitating the paperwork process.

The new text introduces the electronic functioning of the Administration and the functioning, through the electronic certificate, of an electronic notification system, the establishment of the general bases of the State’s electronic administration, and the interconnection of the Public Administrations. It also defines the concept of a single information counter, through which citizens can present the necessary documents in their relations with the Administration, (Govern or Comú) receiving the corresponding documentation.

The implementation of this new system requires a maximum period of two years to become operational, and therefore a transitional provision is foreseen to allow the full application of the measures established in the draft Law.
