The five students of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) who are currently teaching high school students of Andorra, met education representatives and hosting families at the Innovation Space of Andorra.  The event, on Thursday, January 24th, was welcomed by the Minister of Education and Higher Education, Eric Jover, and the director of Actua Innovació, Marc Pons.
 
Jover recalled the presence of MIT students in the country is the result of the exchange program that was born last year and allows better scientific skills and English language of young students in the Principality.
 
Marc Pons, director of Actua Innovació, presented the projects being developed with the MIT and thanked both the Government of Andorra and Vall Banc for continuing their commitment to this initiative.
 
This initiative promoted by the Global Teaching Lab of MISTI (MIT International Science Technology Initiatives), has been renewed after the good experience of last year, and is financed again by Vall Banc with a grant of 12,000 euros.
 
MIT students will be teaching Andorran scholars until February 1st. During their stay, they are hosted by families from the different educational centres.
 
This year the MIT students who are teaching in Andorra are:
 
Anna F. Bueno: Studying a Bachelor of Science in chemical-biological engineering. She teaches at the María Moliner School.
 
John M. Paris: Studying a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and Oceanic Engineering. He teaches at the Sant Ermengol school.
 
Avital F. Baral: Studying a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering and in urban planning. He teaches at the Lycée Comte de Foix.
 
Anelise F. Newman: Studying a Master of Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering and computer science. She teaches at the Vocational Training Centre in Aixovall.
 
Darian M. Bhathena: Studying a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering. He teaches at the Andorran High School.
