The Minister of Education and Higher Education, Eric Jover, and the Minister of Economy, Competitiveness and Innovation, Gilbert Saboya, presented on Thursday, January 18th, the Innovation Space of Andorra to the five students of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) who teach in Andorra. The event was also attended by Vallbanc’s business area general manager, Sergi Pallerola, the teachers who supervise these students and the host families.

The five students are part of the MISTI Global Teaching Lab programme, an MIT initiative that enables their university students to share knowledge over a three-week period to secondary schools around the world. Minister Eric Jover valued the exchange of experiences these students offer to Andorran students very positively, and the fact this relationship is in English.

Jover explained the coexistence of the three educational systems in Andorra and thanked Vallbanc for its involvement in the project, as well as the collaborating teachers and the host families. The minister hopes the experience will serve to improve the academic level and create scientific vocation.

For his part, the Economy, Competitiveness and Innovation Minister, Gilbert Saboya, referenced the collaboration between Andorra and MIT in the field of Innovation, and presented the projects that are being carried out. Saboya welcomed this collaboration also extending to the educational field.

Saboya showed the Americans the Andorran Innovation Space, driven by Actua, and the projects on display, such as the autonomous vehicle (Persuasive Electric Vehicle) and the CityScope. The minister also explained other projects such as TerMITes, in the Santa Coloma school, or studies led by OBSA on the use of solar energy on country’s building rooftops.
