Govern and Comuns have taken the last step on Thursday to launch the shared electric bicycle service, which will become a reality in the spring of 2018. The Minister for the Environment, Agriculture and Sustainability, Silvia Calvó, and the Cònsols (mayors) of the seven parishes, in the presence of the cap de Govern, Antoni Martí, and the Secretary of State for Institutional Relations, Consol Naudi, signed the collaboration agreement for the service concession.

The signing of the agreement took place after the Council of Ministers approved, on Wednesday, the licence for the service to the company Mont S. L. for a period of ten years, renewable for a further five years.
The Minister for the Environment, Agriculture and Sustainability, Silvia Calvó, explained that Andorran society has a great sensitivity to the environment, and this service will facilitate the possibility of changing habits towards a more sustainable mobility.
The license includes a total of 15 stations distributed among the seven parishes, with a hundred charging points for the 45 electric bicycles that will circulate.

The service will be financed by a public contribution of 130,000 euros per year. Amount which will be shared between Govern and the seven Comuns. This contribution is necessary to offer accessible tariffs for users and thus encourage the use of this sustainable system.
One can access the service through three possibilities: An annual subscription, set at 76.5 euros, the 25-use subscription, for 30 euros, and the occasional user rates. Depending on each subscription, the user will pay a price for the bicycle service, which in the case of the annual subscription will be 0.45 euros for the first 30 minutes.

The cònsol menor (Deputy Mayor) of Escaldes-Engordany, Marc Calvet, in representation of all the cònsols, welcomed the initiative, which facilitates a new way of sustainable mobility.
