The Minister of Education and Higher Studies, Ester Vilarrubla, presented on Tuesday the creation and opening of a new higher education center in the Principality: the Humanium International University. As the Minister stated, the center wants to offer studies for Degrees, Masters and PHDs within a semi-attendance based format and in the fields of Music and the Humanities.

Vilarrubla highlighted that the contacts to establish themselves in the Principality started in 2017 through Actua Business, who helped the center´s promoters with the process – especially considering that education is one of the strategic sectors in enhancing the country´s economic diversification–. Furthermore, the University´s Communications director, Eugenio Martín, stated that the project was born with the aim of “official recognition and autonomy of music within the European education sector”.

Martín also assured that they plan to start academic activity for the 21-22 school year and that “they will look to sign a series of agreements with different Andorran and foreign musical entities in order to provide intensive in-person classes”.

Now that the center has received authorization to open, Vilarrubla pointed out that the University has to present the different study plans to the Agència de Qualitat de l’Ensenyament Superior d’Andorra (AQUA) and, if necessary, the Applications for the creation of new degrees to the Ministry. The Minister highlighted that the development of new educational possibilities “is always positive as it provides new options for students wanting to continue formation in higher education”.
