On Thursday, October 19th, the Innovation Space in Caldea hosted the conference on Environmental Quality inside hotel buildings. The event was organized by the Andorran Association for Environmental Quality in Interiors (AQAAI). Thirty environmental health professionals and hotel industry professionals attended the presentations.

During the day, the UNE 171350 Standard (Interior Environmental Quality), developed by AENOR’s AEN/CTN 171 technical committee, was presented to hotel establishments. This voluntary compliance standard has already been accredited to a hotel in Andorra. According to the president of the association, Josep Sobrevias, four hotels have been audited in Andorra and Spain and the first one to achieve it was the Plaza Hotel and “for us, it has been a pleasure”, he stated.

The Minister for Tourism, Francesc Camp said the elements of the new law on tourist accommodation can help improve environmental quality. In fact,” we introduced elements to improve the cleanliness and maintenance of establishments, that were not previously mandatory, ” according to Camp. After the conferences, the director of the Plaza hotel, Xavi Teixidor, received the certificate.
