The Andorra Multisport Festival consolidates itself in the Principality with a higher impact and international presence

Andorra is gearing up to host the second edition of the Andorra Multisport Festival, organized by The IRONMAN Group, kicking off on June 23rd and running to the 3rd of July. A resistance sport and adventure event that holds the full support of the Andorran Government and is sponsored by Andbank and SeafrontCapital. For the 2022 edition, the participation of over 3000 sports enthusiasts is expected (70% newcomers compared to last year´s edition) from 30 different countries, along with 6000 of the racers´ companions. All things considered it will generate an economic impact of over 6 million euros for Andorra.

The second edition of the Andorra Multisport Festival was officially presented on Monday in Andbank´s event room. In attendance were the CEO of Andbank, Carlos Aso, the Minister for Presidency, Economy and Enterprise, Jordi Gallardo, and the general director of The IRONMAN Group in Andorra, Spain, Italy and Portugal, Agustí Pérez. Among others there were also the Mayor of Ordino, Josep Àngel Mortés, the mayor of la Massana, Olga Molné, the Mayor of Sant Julià de Lòria, Josep Majoral and the deputy mayor of Andorra la Vella, David Astrié, along with other political representatives.

The act included the presentation of all four sports events that make up the festival with a cycling race (Andorra 21 Ports), MTB (Andorra MTB Classic-Pyrenees), trail running (Trail 100 Andorra by UTMB) and the IRONMAN 70.3 Andorra to end the festival. A sensational program in which participants will be able to put their skills to the test in an ideal and exclusive environment for the practicing of open-aired sports.

The first race to be celebrated will be the Andorra 21 Ports, a road bike race in one of the preferred destinations for cycling lovers recognized around the world for its mountain ports. Made up of 3 stages adding up to nearly 300 kilometers and over 8.000 meters of positive altitude change.

In parallel to this competition, the Trail 100 Andorra by UTMB will take place, a race that becomes a part of the prestigious UTMB World Series, situating the event among the best trail running races in the world. There will be an ample selection of distances for all levels, the 105-kilometer event being the most demanding of all.

Three days later, it will be time for the Andorra MTB Classic-Pyrenees, a unique opportunity for MTB lovers. This four-stage circuit will pass through Andorra´s most emblematic paths and accumulates 170 km and 5260 meters of altitude change. Moreover, it is part of the Epic Series, unequivocal guarantee that it is one of world´s highest category races.

And to end the Andorra Multisport Festival, on Sunday July 3rd the IRONMAN 70.3 Andorra will take place. In this competition, athletes swim in the highest lake of all the IRONMAN Europe races, the Engolasters lake, they ride through the country´s north, facing the famous coll d’Ordino twice, and finish the circuit by running through the interior of Andorra la Vella. A singular fact as it is one of the few IRONMAN races which goes through a country´s capital.

This year´s festival expects an increase in international athletes, mainly from northern Europe and the United States, joining the rise in general registrations made in 2022. There will also be a slight increase in female participants, reaching 20% of all inscriptions.

A very complete program of resistance and adventure races in the mountains making the Andorra Multisport Festival into an extraordinary event and once again placing the Principality on the map as a reference in the organization of sporting events.
