The Andorra Sports Innovation Hub, promoted by Andorra Business and AR+I, awarded at the GSIC Gala for its leadership in sports business innovation

The Andorra Sports Innovation Hub, an initiative launched by Andorra Business and by AR+I in its beginnings, has received international recognition for its role in business innovation in winter and mountain sports at the 10th anniversary gala of the Global Sports Innovation Center (GSIC) powered by Microsoft, held Thursday night in Madrid.

This Andorran hub is an initiative aimed at positioning the country’s sports sector as an ecosystem for innovation and new technologies in mountain and winter sports, as well as cycling. It offers a platform to promote knowledge and technological development applied to sports, attract startups and innovative companies, and facilitate collaboration between institutions, companies, and athletes on an international scale. It also aims to generate new economic opportunities in Andorra’s unique natural and climatic environment, which allows for real-world testing of solutions under demanding conditions. In this way, the hub directly contributes to the country’s economic diversification and helps consolidate the sports sector as a driver of the national economy. It has also enabled AR+I to carry out testing in the country under the Living Lab concept.

The award was collected by Marc Saura, Secretary of State for Business, Economic Diversification, and Innovation of the Government of Andorra, and Judit Hidalgo, Director of Andorra Business. The prize is one of 10 special awards granted by GSIC to internationally recognized initiatives that have marked its first decade of impact in sports, technology, and entrepreneurship. The Andorran project was highlighted for positioning the country as a benchmark in the application of technological innovation in mountain environments, winter sports, and cycling.

“The award is a recognition of Andorra’s national vision: to be a leader in innovation in unique environments like ours, where sport and technology come together to generate knowledge and opportunities,” emphasized Marc Saura. Judit Hidalgo added, “At Andorra Business, we’ve committed to creating a real ecosystem of sports innovation involving startups, companies, and institutions. The recognition from GSIC and Microsoft affirms that the work we’ve done and the positioning we’ve achieved together is taking us in the right direction.”
