The number of unemployed in January 2017 improves figures of January 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011 and 2010 with 486, 618, 855, 991, 690, 525 and 429 people registered respectively. Only in January 2009, the situation in terms of unemployment was slightly better with 335 people registered at the Servei d’Ocupació.
As for the monthly variation, the number is 15.6% higher than in December 2016 (301 people). This is a normal situation for January, since the end of the Christmas season always turns into an unemployment increase.
The positive trend in employment data which began in June 2013 is maintained, and is accompanied by the increasing of employees that started in January 2014.
The latest data on the number of employees is November, with a total of 36,136 employees, which is a variation of + 2.8% rise over the same month of the previous year, with 35,142. The average number of employees during the last twelve months is 36,478, with a positive variation of 1.7% compared to the same period’s previous data.
