The jury of the Andorra Sports Startups Challenge has named a project for cervical airbags integrated into helmets, devised by Evix, as the winner of the second edition of the competition for startups promoted by Andorra Business, Andorra Research+Innovation and the Global Sports Innovation Center powered by Microsoft (GSIC).
On this occasion, over 50 inscriptions from 19 different countries took part, and proposals of an extremely high level were presented with the aim of identifying the most promising technological solutions that can help in improving user experience and loyalty so as to deseasonalize Andorra´s sports and tourism offer.
The jury was made up of experts in the areas of technology, sport, business, innovation, investment, entrepreneurship and financing.
The winning project by EVIX
EVIX is a Spanish startup which has developed a patented air cushion system integrated into the cyclist´s helmet. EVIX´s aim is to protect the cyclist´s neck in case of an accident. The airbag is hidden within the helmet and only deploys when the system detects there is an accident. EVIX´s product is unique as there are no other helmets on the market that include cervical protection.
The other two finalists were Citylegends, a sports and urban culture agency who presented a social platform to help governments, entities and organizations in generating more participation in sports and urban activitiesby uniting social networks, games and data. And Fanprime, a loyalty platform for entities and sports events in which, through gamification, fan participation increases and they have the possibility of purchasing related products, thus increasing the generating of data and sales for the organizing party.
The awards
The winner will have the possibility of carrying out a pilot project with interested Andorran parties Andorra, they will participate in one of the sector´s events alongside Andorra Business, accommodation and meals + a touristic visit for two people over five days in Andorra, one year´s free membership to GSIC powered de Microsoft and one year´s free membership to the Cluster Andorra. In addition, the winner and the two honorable mention startups will receive: Special mention in the Andorran Guide for Entrepreneurship and Investment to be published by GSIC in 2022, an hour-long mentoring session with a member of the jury and in person prize giving ceremony during the Andorra Sports Innovation Summit.
