The Prime Minister, Antoni Martí and Secretary of State for Economic Diversification, Josep Maria Missé took part Friday in the 2nd Annual Clusters Meeting organised by the Actua initiative, which involved around a hundred of businessmen. Martí recalled the significant progress regarding “economic and mental openness” of the Andorran society to a new framework “committed to seriously diversifying the economy, without hypocrisy,” through the acquisition of the economic rights “from day one.”

This situation, according to Missé, enabled 965 requests of foreign investment since the entry into force of the law that made it possible, as well as the approval of 862 projects, with a total of €63 million investment authorized.
The Prime Minister showed his satisfaction with the participation of 477 people and more than 300 companies in the clusters, within 40 workshops held at this stage. Meanwhile, Martí announced the desire to deploy during the next legislature a network of economic aggregates to embassies permitting the establishment of stronger links to attract foreign investment and to expand Andorran companies abroad.

Missé reviewed the most important activities carried out this year. In this regard, he recalled how the Google Business Photos project already counts more than 90% of local businesses, an acceptance that even exceeded initial expectations. Other initiatives such as private medical infrastructure, Andorra Wifi, the creation of the web site Actua.ad, and the Google Snow Mobile were developed, as well as the recent creation of the beauty and cosmetics, and E-Health clusters.

In addition, Missé detailed other actions to support entrepreneurs, such as the entry of the Law for Trademark and Patents, the Law for Companies or the mission in Portugal. Meanwhile, the new Actua Corner provides direct and strengthened support to businessmen. Being a unified information center for business queries, consultations grew up to 40% more than 2013. Missé attributed this fact to the visibility of the new office in the administrative building of the Government, allowing spontaneous questions from the first day, and meetings already scheduled.
This Clusters’ Annual Meeting involved all participants of the various clusters, as well as the founding president of Infonomia, Alfons Cornella, who gave a “motivational speech”.

Alfons Cornella stressed the importance of collaborating and cooperating in innovation processes, and put them into practice in real scenarios. With the aim to energize the meeting and to involve attendees, many activities were organised. For instance, the drawing of a map of assets of the companies participating in the clusters.

In conclusion, Imma Jiménez, in charge of the economic diversification at Actua initiative, took the occasion to thank all the participants, recognising their joint efforts in the different Actua clusters.
