Andorra Telecom announced during the celebration of the Jornada de Empresa, this Thursday, October 11th, an Internet network of Things (IOT) with coverage in Andorra la Vella and Escaldes-Engordany to respond to companies with connected devices. The network uses the international standard LoRa technology and has already been tested in a pilot test developed with the Servei Andorrà d’Assistència Sanitària, with the monitoring of refrigerators and water consumption.

Carolina Castellanos, project manager of Andorra Telecom’s IOT, explained that although there are many devices connected, especially demotics, that use the mobile Internet network, there are others that require a specific solution.

Parallel to the installation of the network, Andorra Telecom has begun to design specific solutions to facilitate the access of companies to the Internet of Things. “We will proceed after previous consultancies to define needs, the installation and maintenance, and we will offer the platform to visualize the sensors’ information”.

Andorra Telecom also took advantage of the presence of 150 professionals and businessmen to announce the entrance in the association LoRa Alliance™, that groups more than 500 international companies.

Andorra Telecom’s general manager, Jordi Nadal, emphasized in his initial speech that digitalization allows companies “to gain efficiency, get closer to the customer and obtain more benefits”.

Javier Velilla, founding partner of Comuniza agency, was the first speaker at the conference. In his presentation, he highlighted how the brand must become a factor to generate competitiveness. “A brand without a product is a lie, but a product without a brand is a generic”. Velilla, quoting the specialist Marty Neumeier, stressed the brand is the most important invention in the business world, after Excel sheets.

The final conference was given by Antonio Mosquera and Alfredo Carrión, KPMG digitization specialists. Their intervention served to tell attendees examples of several success stories as companies must adapt to changes in customer behaviour resulting from access to technologies.
