The Andorra Innovation Space, promoted by Actua, opened its doors on Tuesday, September 12th. Located on the ground floor of the Caldea building, it has a surface area of 250 square meters distributed in two rooms. The first one holds the ActuaTech Foundation offices, including a meeting space and an atrium with a grandstand for about thirty people, where conferences and presentations can be organised. The second room is currently occupied by the autonomous vehicle being tested in Andorra (Persuasive Electric Vehicle -PEV), the CityScope with the projection of several projects, and an area reserved for researchers.

Experts from FEDA, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Andorran Observatory of Sustainability and the ActuaTech Foundation have been working together on this opening day. At the same time, students from the University of Andorra have begun preparations for a Lego Party where they will be proposing urban planning solutions for the area named Clot d’Emprivat, in Escaldes-Engordany.

The Secretary of State for Economic Diversification, Josep Maria Missé, and the ActuaTech Foundation’s director, Yann Baucis, also presented the Innovation Space to the Andorran media.

On 14th and 15th September, Andorra will also host the first City Science Summit 2017, organised by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with Actua’s support, where international experts will showcase examples of how various cities are designing their spaces for the future.
