The fourth edition of the Tàndem project, promoted by Actua and the Ministry of Education, ended this Tuesday, December 10th, with the grand finale held in the Vocational Training Center of Aixovall. The aim of the project is to involve the educational community in Andorra with innovative projects being developed in companies.
The three finalist teams, consisting of 6 students each, had 15 minutes to present their innovative solutions to the challenges posed by the Basketball Club Morabanc Andorra, Unicef Andorra and Vatel.
Morabanc Andorra proposed students to help them make basketball games a priority leisure option for the population between 20 and 40 years. Unicef Andorra was looking for a deeper collaboration from young people in Andorra. Vatel called for strategies to make the professions of the hotel and tourism sector more attractive to Andorran students.
“Project VIII” won the challenge with an application for the shopping experience with donations to Unicef. The system would eventually monitor the funds’ destination after the donation. In this edition 68 students, 12 teachers and about ten mentors have participated and worked together on the challenges posed by the three entities above mentioned.
The Minister of Education, Ester Vilarrubla, stressed that “the Tàndem project gives students the opportunity to identify and to solve real problems working as a team, in a transversal way, bringing the education system closer to the businesses reality”.
The Minister of the Presidency, Economy and Businesses, Jordi Gallardo, emphasized “the only way to have good ideas is to have many, and this is precisely one of the objectives of the Tàndem project. Also, take advantage of the talent and creativity of young people to find opportunities where many see only problems” and recalled that “from the Govern d’Andorra we want to encourage the youth creativity, and we must provide all tools to ensure the necessary inspiration.
The Actua Empresa’s director, Judit Hidalgo, recalled that “when we go abroad, especially in countries with very advanced economies, we see they are starting to promote projects that involve the educational system with the business ecosystem, and Actua is proud of Tàndem, for being a pioneer in this regard.
The jury was formed by Xavier Campuzano (MEES), Judit Hidalgo (Actua), Gemma Miquel (CFP teacher), Sergi Romero (Bàsquet Club Morabanc Andorra), Roser Daban (Vatel) and Marta Alberch (UNICEF).
