The economic mission Portugal-Andorra took place this Thursday in Lisbon at the headquarters of the Portuguese Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade (AICEP). The event was attended by 14 Portuguese businessmen and 14 Andorran businessmen who took advantage of the day to establish trade links.

The meeting, organised by Actua, the Andorran Chamber of Commerce and Industry, AICEP and the Andorran Embassy in Portugal, was also attended by the Minister of Economy, Competitiveness and Innovation, Gilbert Saboya, who gave a presentation of the country focusing on the latest Andorran economic indicators. Saboya recalled that “this day is the continuation of the first business seminar we held in 2014. Since then, the configuration of the map of relations with Portugal has grown considerably: we have a double taxation agreement, which is already in force; we have a presence of larger Portuguese companies, especially in the distribution of agri-food products; and some Andorran businessmen in this sector are also doing business in Portugal “.

The Andorran Minister stressed that “today the idea was to take another step forward, and show that we are also committed to the energy transition. Portugal is a very powerful country in terms of infrastructures and companies that are committed to renewable energy sources, and we have also talked about the digital transition. It is therefore a very good opportunity for companies to generate new business initiatives.

For his part, the vice-president of AICEP, António Silva, said that “our economies are close and we have many points of interest. There are many Portuguese people working and living in Andorra, there are also many Portuguese people who holiday in Andorra every year and we will have a lot more to do in terms of economic relations. In this sense, he stressed that “for this reason this meeting has been very useful and interesting, in the intensification of trade relations between the two countries”.

The economic mission Portugal-Andorra closed with 40 private meetings between businessmen from both countries (B2B) and several visits to Andorra of Portuguese businessmen have been arranged for the upcoming weeks.
