The shared electric bicycle public service, Cicland, was inaugurated this Tuesday, June 26th This service aims at promoting a more sustainable mobility model. The Minister for the Environment, Agriculture and Sustainability, Silvia Calvó, the cònsol menor of Canillo, David Palmitjavila, Crèdit Andorrà’s marketing manager, Joan Ramon Mas, and the head of the concession company, Miquel Àngel Armengol, presented the new service in a ceremony attended by the head of the Government, Antoni Martí, and the cònsols of all the parishes.

Cicland provides fifty bicycles and battery charger stations in the seven parishes, that will benefit both citizens and visitors.
The shared electric bicycle public service is part of the sustainable mobility model to be promoted in the country.

This service is the result of the collaboration between the Government and the seven parishes, which already agreed for the promotion of electric mobility with the Engega programme, and signing a new agreement in October 2017 for the concession of the shared electric bicycle service, along with the Automòbil Club d’Andorra.

The Environment, Agriculture and Sustainability Minister, Sílvia Calvó, presented Cicland as a project to promote more sustainable mobility and pointed out the results of a survey showing that the society is highly sensitive to the environment. In addition, she recalled the shared electric bicycle service is one of the pillars of the government’s mobility model, and it will be integrated into the future mobility platform promoted by FEDA, to integrate the different mobility services.

The company concessionaire’s representative, Miquel Àngel Armengol, explained the details of the service and informed during the first two months, the service will check inefficiencies and should be improved to provide a fully efficient service. In addition, Cicland will announce during the next week how users can test the bicycles for free.

He also mentioned that 12 electric bicycle stations, out of a total of 14, are already operating. As for the electric bicycles, he indicated they are adapted to the Andorran orography to access the seven parishes easily.

The price of the service includes three options: the annual subscription, fixed at 76.5 euros, the subscription for 25 uses, for 30 euros, and the pay-per-use. Depending on each subscription, the user must pay a price for the time he/she uses the bicycle, which in the case of the annual subscription will be 0.45 euros for the first 30 minutes.

These subscriptions can be purchased at any tourist office, or through the Cicland mobile phone application, which will be available next week. You can find all the information about the service on the website www.cicland.ad
