The parish wants to become the center for the development of technological projects.
The Mayor of Escaldes-Engordany, Trini Marin, and the Secretary of State for Economic Diversification and President of the ActuaTech Foundation, Josep Maria Missé, signed on Friday morning a collaboration agreement for the promotion of innovation and technology in the parish of Escaldes-Engordany. The ActuaTech Foundation established a collaboration agreement with MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), considered to be one of the best engineering universities in the world.
The aim of this collaboration is for Escaldes to become a project development center providing tools and technologies that help both improve citizens’ quality of life, and a better experience for thousands of tourists who visit Escaldes. The parish is also willing to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of economic diversification.
Furthermore, this agreement includes multi sectorial data collection in order to create new models of innovation, developing innovative concepts allowing the urban parish to position as a destination recognized for testing technology and implementing projects to attract specialized industries or facilitate the carrying out of tests to validate projects.
The last aspect in this collaboration includes the spreading of knowledge generated by ActuaTech projects and the organization of conferences, workshops and other events. A collaboration that is currently evident with the Innovation and New Technology days held entirely in the parish of Escaldes.
In order to test projects, the parish of Escaldes-Engordany is ready to provide ActuaTech and its collaborators with all the services and areas needed and allow the collection of resulting data or information. For its part, ActuaTech will provide Escaldes with knowledge generated by the projects that may be useful and beneficial for the parish. Finally, Escaldes will participate in the communication campaigns surrounding the projects.
Vivand ishosting this Saturday 24 September at 10am the first Persuasive Electric Vehicle test as proof of the good collaboration between the parish of Escaldes and the ActuaTech Foundation. The PEV is a prototype vehicle developed by MIT scientists and researchers. It is an independent tricycle to help avoid sedentary lifestyles and provide an energy-efficient means of transport.
