Podoactiva, the leading company in podiatry and biomechanics, has opened a clinic in Escaldes-Engordany, (Carrer Esteve Albert, 9), as part of its expansion plan. The 200-square metre space is equiped with the technology needed for biomechanical walking and stepping studies providing patients with customized insoles.

This technology was presented last Wednesday, September 20th. A biomechanical study of athlete Marcos Sanza’s footprint was carried out. The session was attended by Josep María Missé, Secretary of State for Economic Diversification and Innovation, Víctor Alfaro, general manager of Podoactiva and Real Madrid’s podiatrist, Podoactiva Andorra’s director Ángel Vicioso, and Eli Nieto, clinic’s podiatrist.

“We are very pleased to see the project of Podoactiva Andorra completed, and to be able to provide our technology and treatments in the Principality as part of our expansion plan. People are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of taking care of their feet’s health and walking correctly to maintain optimal overall health,” said Victor Alfaro.

Ángel Vicioso, director of the Clínica Podoactiva Andorra, stressed that “podiatry is very important for health in general, and helps athletes in particular, to prevent injuries and improve performance”. He also emphasized the interest for Andorra “taking into account the large number of professional athletes established in recent years in the country, and the great passion for sports existing here”.

Biomechanical studies and customized insoles

The clinic is equiped with the best technology for tread studies, the Podoactiva’s protocol and the high-precision foot scanning method with 3D Scan Podoactiva, patented worldwide, for the prescription of customized insoles.

The biomechanics rooms are equipped with treadmills instrumented for running analysis, and the Younext 4D analysis system, which records the patient’s sporting gesture and steps. Complicated and specific cases are recorded with the help of six high-definition cameras.

All these tests allow diagnostics to be carried out with optimal patient data and maximum precision and, if necessary, prescribe customized Podoactiva insoles, differentiated for adapting optimally to the anatomy of each foot thanks to a maximum precision mold. Its concept is designed by engineers with their own software and the product is manufactured with an exclusive mix of materials.

Clínica Podoactiva Andorra also has chiropractic offices and consultation rooms for the treatment of pathologies such as fungus, ingrown toenails, diabetic foot or papilloma, among others.
