Actua participated with representatives of various Andorran companies in the World Retail Congress 2019 which took place until May 16th in Amsterdam. It is the largest event of leading retailers, disruptors and experts working together to address the future of the retail sector. This year, the central theme was the speed required to meet customer expectations, technological change and innovation.

Actua, with representatives of The Shopping Mile and Retail companies, attended the congress with a stand, from which they could interact with visitors and local partners, while presenting the Andorran business opportunities. In this regard, Actua Empresa’s director, Judit Hidalgo, highlighted “it is important for Andorran companies to be aware of all the transformations in the sector. This is why we are participating, along with entrepreneurs in the country, in the World Retail Congress. We are interacting with brands such as Tommy Hilfiger and Levi’s, who participate as speakers, and also department stores like Harrods, which are presenting the sector’s new technological trends and business models.

Actua Innovation’s director, Marc Pons, emphasized the retail sector in Andorra, which already represents 16.3% of GDP, during a round table on the future of cities and retail trends. Pons also recalled that more than half of the 8 million visitors come to the Principality for purchases. He also presented some of the latest innovation projects in Andorra linked to the sector, which cities such as Hamburg and Lima are already working as a model.

The congress is attended by representatives of more than 50 countries, 160 speakers, 175 mass media and over 1300 businessmen.

This year the Congress analysed the dynamics that lead to a high-speed trade transformation and presented the latest trends so that businesses can readjust their strategies to maintain the level of sales and thus obtain positive results.

12 years setting the trend

Over the past 12 years, the World Retail Congress has brought together the world’s leading retailers and brands who work together with industry experts over three dynamic days to provide thoughtful content, ideas and strategies for businesses.

This year’s edition also featured the Future Retail Challenge, where university students from around the world presented their sales concept to a panel of expert judges and global retailers. The congress was completed with an interactive exhibition of some pioneers such as Tommy Hilfiger, Yo Malone and Paul Smith, showing their vision, passion and inspiration for the sector.
